The City of Northport

Recycling Update

The City of Tuscaloosa will close their recycling center and all drop-off sites at the end of this week to reduce potential COVID-19 exposure for sanitation workers. The City of Northport will suspend curbside recycling after Friday, April 3, 2020.

Please help keep our sanitation workers healthy and safe by following a few guidelines:

· Please bag all garbage.  Do not place loose items inside your garbage cart.

· Do not place garbage bags on top of the cart or beside the cart. The garbage cart is the shield that protects these workers!

· Double bag any leaking waste.

· Place any sharp medical waste, such as needles inside a sealed, rigid container, and then inside a garbage bag.

Thank you all for your understanding and please help us spread the word!

Press Conference Information

Mayor Aaron held a Press Conference Friday, March 27, 2020, at 2:00 p.m. in the Council Chambers at Northport City Hall via Facebook.

Please click below to see notes from this meeting along with the Amended Order of the State Health Officer regarding public gatherings of 10 or more and the closure of non-essential businesses.

Northport has Increased Patrol - No Curfew at this time

Many citizens have asked if the City of Northport has implemented a curfew.  Mayor Aaron has not signed an executive order establishing a city-wide curfew.  Northport's Police Department has some of the finest men and women in blue working hard day in and day out to keep our community safe.  According to safehome.org, Northport is #12 on its list of safest cities in Alabama.  Our City has encountered a few issues with gatherings of 25 or more that are non-work related; however, our PD has handled those accordingly.  The opinion handed down by the Attorney General's Office states that it is an arrestable offense and a fine up to $500.00 to gather in groups of 10 or more.  The Northport PD has increased patrol to help ensure these gatherings are not taking place.  To reiterate, Northport HAS NOT implemented a city-wide curfew.
