The Code Administration section of the City's Building Department is responsible for protecting the health, safety, and welfare of the City of Northport through the enforcement of building, electrical, plumbing, mechanical, gas, fire standard, and other miscellaneous codes and ordinances adopted by the City of Northport. In addition, this responsibility includes reviewing building plans for construction, issuance of all construction and renovation permits, and the inspection of all construction and renovation work.
The Code Administration section of the City's Building Department is the Central Processing Center for obtaining building, electrical, plumbing, mechanical, and land disturbance permits. The City of Northport has adopted the following Codes for Construction within the City Limits of Northport, and within the (3) three mile limits of the City of Northport Planning Jurisdiction.
Permit Requirement
A permit is required when valuation of new construction, alterations, or additions exceed $100.00.
Once a permit is obtained, during carious stages on construction, inspections must be requested. At this point, an inspector will visit the job site to ensure compliance with the above referenced codes.
