ENGINEERING

The Engineering Department provides the following services:

  • Civil Engineering
  • Traffic Engineering
  • GIS Mapping
  • Subdivision Review
  • Computer Systems for the City of Northport

The Engineering Department is responsible for reviewing plans submitted by developers as they relate to water, sanitary sewer, storm sewer, streets, erosion control, landscaping, and site plans to ensure that all developments are in compliance with City Codes, Ordinances and regulations. This includes commercial and residential site plans and subdivisions. The dept also responds to inquiries and complaints about the City's infrastructure such as streets, water lines, sanitary sewer lines, storm sewer lines, traffic lights, and streetlights. The Engineering Department designs, inspects, and administers the construction of City infrastructure and community development projects and provides general engineering information to citizens and other City departments.
