 Economic Development Department

Downtown NorthportRecognizing the importance of sustained economic growth within the community, the City of Northport began an economic development program over a decade ago to primarily encourage retail and commercial growth. In the beginning, a volunteer committee of citizen’s was appointed by the Northport City Council to undertake a marketing campaign. This effort has evolved into today’s program that includes a fulltime director of economic development that is responsible for recruiting new business to the area.

In addition, the city supports industrial development through the Tuscaloosa County Industrial Development Authority and promotes tourism in the area through the Convention & Visitors Bureau.

The Economic Development Department is committed to providing information and assistance in a timely manner to facilitate a project. Please contact the Department of Economic Development at Northport City Hall – 205.339.7000.
